The ultimate workstation for guitar players : power attenuation, live, recording, playing at home...

With the experience gained over the years with the 15, 22, 50 and 100w models, and also with the Nocab, we would like to introduce you the ultimate workstation for your guitar works! A single box for many applications as a you can see below.

Power Attenuation

The Power Attenuator Pro keeps the technology we use from the others P&P products. Sound transparence and quality was our first objective when concepting it. This power attenuator will allow you to reduce the power of your amp until -30dB (6-positions : Off/-10dB/-15dB/-20dB/-25dB/-30dB, Off is a true bypass) on all 130w max power amplifiers (which mean 98% of the world guitar amplifiers production). A 80mm fan cools the entire efficiently. It is still self-powered and turn only when necessary, but you can also connect a power supply (6-12v) if you want to force it to run permanently.

The Power Attenuator Pro is a multi-impedance equipment (4 / 8 / 16 ohms).

Recording, playing live, playing at home with headphone...
The Power Attenuator PRO borrow to the Nocab its five cab simualtions on two balanced output (jack + XLR).

Power Attenuator ProThese balanced outputs allow you to : Silent recording (if the "Mute" toggle swith is on) by connecting the Power Attenuator Pro to your recording system with an xlr or jack cable, Home playing with headphones while keeping your usual config (amp, effects...), Playing live by connecting the Power Attenuator Pro to your sound system. A 6-position selector switch gives you the choice between five cab sims :

  • Off
  • Modern
  • Closed Back
  • Open Back
  • Tweed
  • Vintage

What are these simulations for? A speaker / cab doesn't reproduce all the frequencies emitted by the amplifier. Speaker simulators feature audio filters to reproduce the frequency range of a speaker, making the sound more realistic. The Power Attenuator Pro has 5 simulations allowing for a variety of sounds, from vintage to modern, from aerated to compressed.

In every situations

Your neighbors are not musical ? You would like to easily control the volume of your amp ? You would like to obtain a crunch sound from your clean sound, but you don't have a master volume ? You want to record your guitar in silence? Play at home with headphones? Playing live without a mic in front of your amp?
Or you just want to obtain the best of your tubes ? Power Attenuator 100 was made for you !
Power Attenuator Pro requires no power supply. Like most of our products, it is hand wired point to point (no circuit board).
You'll find everything you need to connect it to your amp in the P&P Shop.

FAQ

How to connect my Power Attenuator Pro on my amp?

The PA pro, like other attenuators, connects between amplifier And its speaker. If you have a two-body amp (head + cabinet), use simple HP cables (see the shop). If you have a combo, use the jack adapters // terminals males and females available on the shop.

Can I plug it in in the output for external speaker on my combo?

Yes, if the HP is unplugged. You will use a HP cable between the amp and the attenuator, and a jack adapter // lugs females for connect the attenuator to the speaker.

What is mode Load Box?

It's a mode that cuts the sound of the amp and allows you to use it standalone (used alone, without speaker). What can be practical to use the headphone output for example, or use it as preamp.

What is the purpose of "Line Out"?

To connect to a mixer/sound card to register for example.

Can I install the attenuator inside my combo?

No. While the 15w version has relatively little heat to dissipate, the PA Pro version requires to be installed in a suitable location, as on the top of the amp for example.

What effect has the attenuator on the sound quality?

The assembly used (T-Bridge) is as transparent as possible, normally it does not "dirty" the sound. In some cases, an overdrive is felt by pushing the tubes (class A amps) or a additional dynamics made bring out a little more bass. In any case, if modification of the its there is, it is to obtain a better result.

Why buy one power attenuator?

Two possibilities: Either to play less loudly while benefiting from the dynamics of the tubes, or to work on the voicing of the amp, it is i.e. obtain a colored sound from the lamps at high volume +- (especially in class A)

My lamps do they wear out faster when I use an attenuator?

All depends on how you use your attenuator: if you push your amp all the way up, the tubes will wear out faster. But the most amps give their best between a quarter and the half the travel of their volume potentiometer. No need to push more. Under these conditions, the presence of the attenuator has little impact on lamp life.

The Power Attenuator Pro should it be powered?

No, no need to power the power attenuator in normal playing conditions.

Can I use instrument jacks to connect the attenuator to my amp?

No, because the diameter of the wires present in this type of cable is really too small and therefore unsuitable. Use only HP cable. You found on the boutique P&P.

The Power Attenuator Does it heat up?

The power is transformed into heat, so yes, it heats a a bit. A radiator and a fan have been installed in order to dissipate it as best as possible. Numerous tests have been carried out, supported by probes, to reduce the Operating temperature. Normally the attenuator should not become hot if used in good conditions.

How long is your warranty material ? What does this warranty include?

The Plug & Play Amplification products are guaranteed for a period of 2 years, parts and labor. In the event of a breakdown, support will be immediate upon presentation of the purchase invoice. Shipping charges will be the responsibility of P&P (return and return).
