PAF 59: a range of humbucking pickups in keeping with tradition.

P&Pickups are hand-wound (scatter winding) pickups, hand-crafted by me in Northern France. I use traditional components, mostly sourced from the USA. This range of humbucker pickups replicates the features of the original humbucker created by Gibson in the late 1950s: two coils filled with plain enamel wire and Alnico magnets, selected and magnetized by me. The wiring consists of a 4-wire cable and a ground braid, allowing for all types of wiring configurations (coil split, phase/out-of-phase, etc.). Different versions are available: neck or bridge, with or without a cover, Alnico 2 or Alnico 5, and 4-wire or 2-wire cable (on request). The covers and baseplates are made of nickel/silver, guaranteeing high quality and musicality.

Alnico 2

This is probably the smoothest in the range. The Alnico 2 magnet has a lower magnetic force and offers exceptional sustain. It's ultra-dynamic and very musical. The frequencies are balanced, making this pickup very versatile. The sound is round and warm, with present but not harsh highs. It's an exact reproduction of the famous Gibson PAF, wound with the same Plain Enamel wire used back in the day. A decidedly vintage pickup, then, primarily suited to Blues rock/rock, but also suitable for heavier music provided the amp has enough gain.

They are very suitable for blues, blues rock, country, jazz, funk, reggae, indie, pop, britpop, classic rock.

Available with or without cover, in bridge or neck version, 2 or 4 wires.
